Chapter 11 - The Black Rose Ball

Two years later, the Aurelia Grand Ballroom hosted the first annual Eleanor Monroe Memorial Gala—an event dedicated entirely to funding scholarships and business grants for independent female designers across the country.

The ballroom was unrecognizable from the night three years earlier.

There were no arrogant donors sitting in judgment, no fake auctions, and no cruel social hierarchies. Instead, the room was filled with three hundred young, talented artists, seamstresses, and creators from every corner of the nation—women who had grown up without access to capital or connections, now being given the exact platform that Ava had been denied for so long.

Ava stood at the central pod podium on stage, wearing a breathtaking custom gown of deep midnight-blue velvet, her gold black rose pendant gleaming under the soft stage lights.

Beside the podium stood a heavy brass easel, holding a larger-than-life oil portrait of Eleanor Monroe, looking vibrant, proud, and timeless.

"Three years ago," Ava said, her voice carrying clear, warm, and resonant through the high-ceilinged room, "I stood on this exact stage while people tried to tell me that my work, my name, and my dignity did not belong to me."

The room was completely silent, every young designer in the audience hanging on her every word.

"They stripped my dress, they locked my mother's studio, and they tried to convince me that I was nothing more than a shadow in someone else's house," Ava continued, her gaze sweeping over the audience until it landed on Niko, who sat in the front row holding their two-year-old daughter, Eleanor, on his lap.

"But what they didn't understand," Ava said softly, a brilliant, beautiful smile illuminating her face, "is that you cannot steal what is woven into your spirit. You cannot lock away a legacy that lives in your hands. And no matter how dark the room gets, truth has a way of cutting through silk."

Ava stepped out from behind the podium, holding up a sleek brass trophy designed in the shape of a blooming rose.

"Tonight, we present the first ten Eleanor Monroe Creative Grants—worth one hundred thousand dollars each—to ten young women who are ready to build their own houses, tell their own stories, and claim their own names."

The ballroom erupted into a magnificent, joyous cheer that echoed all the way out into the grand foyer.

As the ten young winners walked up the stage steps, tears of joy streaming down their faces as Ava embraced each of them individually, Niko stood up from his front-row table, holding little Eleanor in his arms.

The little girl clapped her tiny hands, pointing at her mother on stage. "Mama! Mama's rose!"

Niko looked up at his wife—the woman who had turned a ruined emerald dress into a global empire, and who had transformed a night of public humiliation into a beacon of light for thousands of others.

Ava looked down from the stage, catching her husband's eyes through the golden light.

Niko raised his glass toward her in a silent, eternal toast—the Mafia King bowing to his Queen, the woman who would never be hidden, never be silenced, and never be broken again.
