Chapter 11 - The Table of One's Own

Later that night, after my guests had departed and the house had settled into a quiet, serene calm, I walked out onto the broad rear patio overlooking the rolling hills of the city.

A cool autumn breeze rustled through the oak trees surrounding the estate. The city lights sparkled in the distance like a field of fallen stars.

I pulled my smartphone from my pocket and opened a new email from my financial advisory team.

Client Portfolio Summary: Bennett-Hart Solutions. Annual Revenue Growth: +34%. Liquid Assets: $8.2 Million. Debt Liabilities: $0.00.

I closed the email, locked the phone, and slipped it into my pocket.

Five weeks ago, my mother-in-law had pointed at a wet floor and told me to kneel, believing that my silence was a sign of weakness, that my kindness was a invitation for exploitation.

She had failed to realize a fundamental truth about women who build their own empires from scratch: we do not kneel for anyone.

I walked back inside, pulled the grand oak back doors shut, engaged the security system, and stood in the center of my sunlit living room.

I looked down at the smooth, flawless hardwood floor where the water basin had once spilled. The dark stain was gone. The broken crystal was replaced. The house was clean, vibrant, and entirely my own.

I walked into my study, sat down at my grand mahogany desk, opened my laptop, and began drafting the expansion plans for my firm's new international office in London.

My life was no longer small. My voice was no longer quiet. And my table belonged solely to those who brought respect, love, and light to my door.

I smiled, pressed enter, and watched my future unfold.
