Chapter 9 - THE MIDNIGHT DOCKING - ACT IIBack at Pier 42, the rain had turned into a torrential downpour, hammering against the corrugated metal roofs of the warehouses. Lorenzo stood at the bow of his private yacht, The Black Mamba, watching two black-suited enforcers drag a bound and gagged figure across the wet wooden planks.

It was Victor Vance—Vivien’s older brother and the financial architect of the syndicate’s Boston infiltration.

Victor was thrown hard onto the deck, his expensive Italian leather shoes skidding across the wet fiberglass. He spat out a mouthful of seawater and blood, glaring up through swollen eyes at the towering silhouette of Lorenzo Duca.

"You’re out of your mind, Duca!" Victor snarled, struggling against the heavy nylon cord binding his ribs. "The commission in New York will declare open war on your entire family before sunrise! You can't just snatch corporate executives off the street!"

Lorenzo crouched down until he was eye-level with the shivering syndicate accountant. The don’t face was carved from pure ice, his dark eyes reflecting the flickering neon lights of the harbor cranes.

"Your sister tried to poison my mother and threatened a three-year-old child in my home," Lorenzo said, his voice chillingly calm. "And you thought you could sneak your family back into Boston through a counterfeit marriage license and a forged ledger."

"She was playing the long game!" Victor screamed defiantly. "We were going to take everything legally! The courts, the shipping lanes, the real estate trusts!"

Lorenzo stood up slowly, adjusted his cuffs, and looked over his shoulder at Rocco.

"Take him down to the lower hold," Lorenzo ordered quietly. "Feed him to the lawyers. Let’s see how long his corporate portfolio holds up when we liquidate every asset he owns down to his underwear."
