Chapter 12 - THE DAWN OVER BEACON HILLThe first rays of golden October sunlight broke over the colonial rooftops of Beacon Hill, bathing the cobblestone streets in a warm, amber glow. Inside the master study of the Duca estate, the air smelled of fresh espresso, old paper, and rain-washed stone.

Lorenzo sat behind his massive mahogany desk, his fingers steepled together as he reviewed the final asset transfer documents. The entire Vance-DuPont syndicate portfolio—worth upwards of three hundred million dollars in real estate, shipping lines, and offshore accounts—had been legally transferred over to a newly established trust bearing a single name: The Elena and Mia Foundation.

Rocco walked into the study, laying a fresh cup of black coffee beside the don’t elbow.

"The federal marshals just picked up the remaining syndicate operatives in New York," Rocco reported quietly. "They didn't even put up a fight. Word got out about what happened to Victor and Vivien. The New York bosses sent a wire through our neutral channels: Boston belongs to the Duca family, undisputed, for the next fifty years."

Lorenzo took a slow sip of his coffee, his eyes fixed on the photograph resting in the corner of his desk—a small, candid Polaroid of little Mia laughing in the garden, with Elena standing gently in the background, her shoulders finally free of the crushing weight of fear.

"And Vivien?" Lorenzo asked without looking up.

"Cargo ship headed south," Rocco replied, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his scarred mouth. "No passport, no money, no identity. She’ll spend the rest of her life trying to explain who she is to people who don't care."
